Lets explore this deeper my electricity cost for New York state says I pay $24.84 cents just for delivery, I haven’t even used any electricity yet, My electricity usage was 46.47 for a grand total of $75.23 but lets say I have twenty things plugged in that are not energy star labeled and twenty things plugged in that are energy star labeled,I go on vacation and turn every thing off in my home. My bill will look like this twelve dollars electricity usage for the first twenty items and sixty cents for the other energy items, plus a twenty-five dollar delivery charge for a total of $37.60 when I used no energy at all
You might say well isn’t forty items a lot look around your house your TV most likely has at least ten things by it that are plugged in and your computer has another ten things
The lesson to learn here, or the way to combat this problem, is to buy mostly energy star products and to unplug items when not in use, you could also buy special power strips that are smart and turn off all the electricity to a product when it detects it’s not in use.
